People have been successfully operating their own online businesses since online businesses emerged. There are a variety of ways — through YouTube videos, eCommerce, blogging, and podcasting to name a few. Today there are more platforms than ever, and next year there will likely be even more platforms than now. There is ample opportunity!If you desire success and put in the work, your success is inevitable. The key is to put in the work. I want to be clear that this book is not a blueprint on how to get rich quick. Your growth will take dedication, and at times it may feel like it’s outside of your grasp. In the beginning, you’re going to feel as though you’re delivering content into a void, with little traction on your eCommerce T-shirts, few hours watched on your YouTube channel, no search engine traffic to your blog, and any of the other normal business beginnings. And frankly, it is good that there is a period without reward because it will keep those with weaker mindsets out of your way. You just need to craft a plan and stick to it.At the start of the 2020 global pandemic, I realized that I needed to diversify my income, so I started researching. What could I do to earn income while working from my home -- or better yet, working from the beach? I read a ton of books, watched countless hours of YouTube videos, followed people on various social media platforms, enrolled in few courses, and tested things for myself. Through trial and error, I began finding income streams that suited this lifestyle. I was able to find an amalgamation of different types of work that engaged me in different ways.I’m not an online business guru by any stretch of the imagination — I’m still in the early stages myself! — but one of my superpowers is the ability to research. I can churn through a ton of nonsense and effectively pan for gold.Over the years, I’ve founded, owned, operated, and eventually sold three different physical businesses. Heading into online entrepreneurship, I had a bit of confidence, knowing that I had good ideas and the ability to follow through. I’d also founded, owned, and half-assed my way through two other businesses that made no profits. This taught me that failure wasn’t the end of the world. Unsurprisingly, in each venture my effort and consistency were directly correlated to my success. It’s just like Thomas Jefferson said: “I’m a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it.”
